Shelley Gentry

Contemporary Realism and Abstract Expressionism – Two paths converged in the makeup of Shelley Gentry’s portfolio. Gentry describes her workspace as the “studio of the dueling easels” because she often creates paintings in two distinct styles side by side.

“I find balance as an artist in the dance between portraying something I have seen vs. something I have felt.”

Gentry is a native Arkansan who works in various media, but concentrates primarily on acrylics. She is best known for her love of a dramatic color palette and her eye for portraying the “sparkle" of everyday objects. As an avid animal lover, she also has an ongoing roster of pet commissions in her art practice. Her work is in numerous private collections across the United States and in corporate collections in Arkansas. Her work has been published in AcrylicWorks 5, The Best of Acrylic Painting, and juried into the International Online Exhibitions of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society in 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2020.
